We’re always looking to expand our tester community. The MESH01 process works because of people like you who contribute their time to improve product quality, performance, and reliability. From running shoes to ski goggles, brands benefit from putting their products through the MESH01 process. For instance, if you’re an avid runner, you know best where you need to see improvements in running gear.

What You Can Expect

When you become a MESH01 concept and/or product tester, you get the chance to work with some of the world’s top brands and be directly involved in the product development process. Whether you’re into gym workouts, outdoor adventures, or work at a job requiring specialty equipment, you, the customer, are the expert on how a product should perform.

Here’s what else you can expect when you work with MESH01:

  • The opportunity to participate in concept testing surveys to help brands validate opportunities in the market based on your input
  • The opportunity to test new products and provide comprehensive feedback on our easy-to-use digital platform
  • Opportunities to keep the products you test, receive gift cards from brands you test for, and other incentives

The Testing Process

  1. Brands will look through our community of testers and select the ones that best match their target audience, which sometimes may include you, and sometimes may not. 
  2. If selected, you’ll be sent an invitation to test the product, and notified of the compensation for doing so.
  3. Confirm your participation if you’re available, and the brand will ship the product to you. If unavailable, no problem! Just respond as soon as possible so the brand can move forward with other testers.
  4. Put the product to the test! Following any provided instructions from the brand, you’ll start using the product and giving feedback through the MESH01 app. You may be asked to complete surveys and turn in activity logs, as well as upload photos and/or videos of the product in use to inform the brand’s product development process.

What’s Expected of You

We expect enthusiasm, reliability, and commitment from our testers to ensure our partners are getting the most accurate voice of the customer feedback possible. Brands benefit from the testing process when you thoroughly test and review the products you’re sent. Whether it’s a professional-grade product or a daily-use item, voice of the customer feedback can make all the difference in the success and usefulness of a product.

Here’s what else is expected of you as a MESH01 tester:

  • You’ll seek participation in tests relevant to your work and/or favorite activities – and we make it easy by contacting you via email whenever survey or product test opportunities arise
  • You’ll provide complete and honest feedback, on time
  • If you agree to a test, you’ll stick to it until the end, even if that means providing a lot of feedback for weeks or more!

Product Tester FAQs: Shape the Products You Love


  • How do I become a product tester?

    We’re always looking to expand our tester community. While you certainly don’t have to be a pro athlete to join our team, we do look for testers who will be pros at responsiveness, reliability, commitment, clarity, and honesty. If that sounds like you, start the application process here.


  • How does footwear, gear, and/or apparel product testing work?

    The MESH01 product testing process can be explained in 3 simple steps:

    1. Brands will look through our community of testers and select the ones that best match their target audience, which may or may not include you.

    2. If selected, you’ll be sent an invitation to test the product, and notified of the compensation for doing so. If you’re available, you’ll confirm your participation and the brand will ship the product to you. If unavailable, no problem! Just be sure to respond as soon as possible so the brand can move forward with other testers.

    3. Put the product to the test! Following any instructions from the brand, you’ll start using the product and giving feedback through the MESH01 app. You may be asked to complete surveys and turn in activity logs, as well as upload photos and/or videos of the product in use in the real world to inform the brand’s product development process.


  • What types of companies are looking for product testers?

    We work with a range of brands that develop everything from hiking boots to general apparel to camping gear. Some of our partners include L.L.Bean, The North Face, Hanes, Walmart, and Cole Haan. Because of our widely varying partners, we look for widely varying product testers to match up with each of their unique target audiences. Whether you’re an avid hiker or a lover of leather shoes, you could be a valuable member of our testing community.


  • Will I be compensated for my participation?

    Depending on the brand you’re testing for, you may either get to keep the product, be compensated with a gift card to the brand, or receive another incentive. Compensation is always mentioned before you do the product test.


  • Does the testing process cost me anything?

    Absolutely not! We won’t ever ask you for payment or banking information.


  • How long does it take to provide feedback?

    The length of the testing and feedback process varies by product test and depends on the type of product, the brand’s instructions, and the brand’s product development timeline. Some tests take a couple of days while others may take months, but you’ll always be aware of the testing timeline before you agree to participate.


  • Can I share anything on social media?

    Generally, the answer is no. Many products you’ll be testing are still in the pre-launch development phase and need to be kept under wraps. There are a few brands we work with that do encourage social sharing, which will be communicated upon receiving your product.

     


  • What kind of products will I be testing?

    Brands will reach out to you if they think your profile is a good match for their product, and you can accept or decline the invitation to test. We have such thorough profiles on our testers so that, ideally, they’ll end up matched with brands and products that fit their interests, lifestyles, and activities.  So, if you’re focused on running, you would likely be contacted for running or cross-training gear. If you’re a skier, you might be asked to try out helmets and goggles.


  • What if I don’t like what I get?

    If you don’t like the product or find defects, that’s all part of the process and we ask for your honest feedback. As a MESH01 tester, you’ll be relied upon to provide relevant and helpful feedback that will help the brand make improvements before going to market. If the product isn’t working for you, we want to know why.


  • If I’m just filling out a survey, is that compensated?

    Surveys are sometimes compensated and sometimes not. You might receive a gift card or discount for the brand, but your ability to influence product development is the real payoff. We’ve been able to gather a great amount of incredibly helpful feedback for brands from surveys, especially when testers are truly passionate about contributing to the creation process of new and improved products.
