He understands the weight of his responsibility as a tester. “The companies don’t want you to sugarcoat anything,” he explains. “If you identify that a product has issues, then you need to report them so the consumer can have a better experience with the final product. If a consumer has a bad experience, they might never come back to the brand. As testers, we have a pretty important job in notifying the brands about the good and bad results.”
One instance where Gene’s feedback was particularly impactful occurred during a winter test of running sneakers. “The insoles were slick, and I ended up with a huge blister,” Gene recounts. “I’m a seasoned runner… I had not had a blister since I started running… so, when the blister appeared, I knew something was going on with the insole”. I get excited like a little kid on Christmas when a new test appears – can’t wait to try out the new product.”

Let the test coordinator know, heal up, and then you will be ready to participate in future tests.”
